"Half of what I say is meaningless, but I say it so that the other half may reach you..."-Kahlil Gibran
The fog creeps coast side, with the heavy rails of the last BART trains in a distance. We all need our own personal soundtrack, even where the walls crack, even where enough is never really enough. A ramble never hurt nobody, a midnight glass of whiskey over ice, over and over where days break but never bends....
post script.
As a kid you always wait for summer vacation, and as soon as it arrived, it was gone. We turn to entertainment, we turn to distractions, but for what? Personal connections help people thrive. We all thrive at something...
Sleep. Shower. Eat. In the car/bus/Bart...we are waiting, spending moments getting to and from places, wasting moments...waiting. Nap. eat, repeat...waiting. I noticed the other day how much I dislike text messaging, how impersonal, why not pick up the phone? Hearing that special someones voice goes farther than any old freeway. Sleep, and repeat...
Five (5) songs you (yes, you sitting at your computer) must listen to, preferably at a volume of 24 (out of 40/50 on your dial) or slightly over medium but loud enough for the person next to you to hear...Five Books that should be read or skimmed, but really read...
- Just In Time. Nina Simone
- Don't Think Twice it's Alright. Bob Dylan
- Sidestep. Crown City Rockers
- Lifetime. Mos Def
- Try A Little Tenderness. Ottis Redding
Two things on the Internet that you should watch...
- The Prophet. Kahlil Gibran
- On The Road. Jack Kerouac
- The Alchemist. Paulo Coelho
- Life After God. Douglass Coupland
- The Peace Book/The Feel Good Book. Todd Parr

Being an educator for the past five years, I was going to "blog" about education, or revolution, or....hmm. I just got back from camping this weekend, relaxing with stars above and your thoughts. Makes me think how far people have evolved, how did cave people entertain themselves? What did they blog about? So many kids nowadays are so easily manipulated by the media and television and radio. Now I enjoy all that from time to time, but as adults or "grown-ups" where does it stop, working sooo hard for things we don't really need. Personal connections. It's summer time, don't let your kids sit inside and be pressured to live up to things on television that don't even exist. Let them get dirty, let them smell the fresh cut grass, or let them climb a tree, let them be, not what they see on TV. And when school does start back up, be pro-active in the classroom, volunteer, be involved and they will too, it will benefit them in the long run...wow that was long...that's what she said...thanks for letting me blog it out...
that's my peace/piece...
